You might say Saturday Night Live is like a college for comedy. It’s a place where young performers can learn the entertainment industry. If that’s the case, many SNL alum should go on to become stars. And many have.

Some SNL cast members who have gone on to star in television shows, or streaming shows as we know them now, were predictably successful. But in some cases, SNL cast members you may not expect went on to helm popular TV shows.

A handful of of SNL cast members have won or been nominated for an Emmy Award for their work in TV shows after leaving the sketch show.
