The son of comedian Bob Elliott, Chris Elliott was a writer and performer on SNL during the 1994-95 season. He brought his bizarre, anti-comedy sensibility to the show, which was already familiar to viewers of Late Night with David Letterman. He created strange characters like The Guy Under the Stairs and a creepy, Marlon Brando-esque version of himself on that late night show. His humor was often surreal and divisive. After his single season, Elliott co-created and starred in the cult sitcom Get a Life. He later found mainstream success with a recurring role on Everybody Loves Raymond. His daughter, Abby Elliott, later became a star on SNL.
