For the season finale, the show brought back its most reliable host, Buck Henry. As always, his presence guaranteed a smart, well-executed show. This episode is legendary for the “Samurai Night Fever” sketch, a brilliant parody that saw John Belushi’s samurai character in a white disco suit. It was an iconic piece of physical comedy. The show also featured the entire cast as endangered species giving a press conference, a wonderfully absurd premise. Henry even joined the cast in the audience for a sketch. The episode felt like a celebration of a fantastic season, full of confidence and classic moments. A perfect, hilarious end to a near-perfect year of television.
