Having 80-year-old screen legend Ruth Gordon host was an absolute delight. She was a force of nature, full of rebellious energy and mischievous charm. Her opening monologue, where she spoke frankly about life and love, was captivating. She fully committed to every sketch, whether she was playing a punk rocker or a feisty grandmother, and the cast clearly adored her. The show had a warm, joyful, and slightly chaotic feel. Rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry was the musical guest, and seeing him perform his classic hits was a genuine thrill. It was a wonderful, life-affirming episode that celebrated two iconic trailblazers and left you with a huge smile on your face.
Lorne Michaels says John Belushi is too sick to go on television, but Belushi’s doctor insists Belushi must go on or else the doctor will cut off his drugs. Hearing this, Belushi rallies and is able to get up and speak.
