Another Monty Python member, Michael Palin, graced the SNL stage, and the result was brilliant. Palin is known as the “nice” Python, and he brought a warm, slightly goofy energy to the show. He was game for anything, from playing a clueless pirate to a man in a “merman” sketch. The show was full of clever, character-driven comedy that felt like a perfect blend of Python’s absurdity and SNL’s topical satire. Dan Aykroyd’s rambling “Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute” sketch was a standout. The episode was a joy from start to finish, a seamless collaboration with a comedy legend. Eugene Record’s smooth soul music provided a nice, mellow contrast to the on-screen silliness.
