Peter Boyle was a fantastic host, throwing himself into every sketch with incredible enthusiasm. He was equally adept at playing menacing and goofy, which the show used to great effect. His performance as a conflicted monster in a “Frankenstein” sketch was a particular highlight. The show had a great, high-energy pace, and the entire cast seemed to be having a blast playing alongside him. This episode also featured the classic “Ambassadors” sketch, a perfect piece of political satire. Al Jarreau’s inventive, jazzy performance was a breath of fresh air. It was just a rock-solid, consistently funny episode from top to bottom, proving the show could be counted on for quality week after week.
