Elliott Gould’s laid-back, almost surreal energy gave this episode a unique and slightly off-kilter feel. He was clearly having a great time, and his playful attitude was infectious. The show leaned into the absurd, with the “Baba Wawa” impression of Barbara Walters by Gilda Radner becoming an instant classic. John Belushi’s Samurai character also got a fantastic showcase. The episode didn’t have the sharp, satirical bite of some others, but it made up for it with pure, silly fun. It felt loose and improvisational in the best way. Anne Murray was a pleasant, if somewhat safe, musical guest. Overall, a very funny and enjoyable episode that highlighted the cast’s incredible character work.
