No television program in history has earned more Emmy Award nominations (and wins) than Saturday Night Live. Included in those accolades are the instances where a guest host as shined so bright that he or she has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy.
The first host to earn a nomination was screenwriter and actor Buck Henry in Season 2. Henry was nominated again in Season 3. In those early years of the show, Henry was seen as the dependable “no-fuss” hosting pro who was tapped to be the host for the finale of the season when the cast and crew were ready for an “easy” show.
Of all hosts, comedian Louis C.K. has been nominated the most for his hosting gigs: three times among the four times he’s hosted the program.
Three hosts have won the Emmy Award twice as host of SNL: Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon, and Dave Chappelle. In Season 51, Conor Storrie became the 44th different host to be nominated for an Emmy Award for their hosting performance on SNL.
