Adam Sandler brought a unique, guitar-strumming, man-child energy to SNL in the early ’90s. His goofy, nonsensical songs like ‘The Chanukah Song’ and ‘Lunch Lady Land’ became instant classics. He created memorable characters like the gibberish-spouting Opera Man and the easily flustered Canteen Boy. Sandler’s comedy was silly, juvenile, and immensely popular. He was part of a controversial cast overhaul in 1995, but after exiting the show, Sandler immediately launched one of the most successful film careers of any SNL alum. With blockbuster comedies like Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, he built a movie empire.
