Robert Klein is a comedian’s comedian, and he brought his sharp observational humor back to the SNL stage. His monologue about his childhood was fantastic, and he seamlessly integrated into the sketches. This episode is famous for the debut of the “Blues Brothers,” with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi delivering a soulful and instantly iconic performance of “Hey Bartender.” It was a show-stopping moment that launched a phenomenon. The rest of the episode was solid, with a very funny sketch about a failing delicatessen. Bonnie Raitt’s bluesy, heartfelt musical performances were the perfect fit.
