A multi-talented writer, actor, and musician, Harry Shearer had two separate, brief stints on SNL, first in the 1979-80 season and again in the 1984-85 season. During his second run, he was part of the all-star cast with Billy Crystal and Martin Short. While he never quite found his footing as a breakout sketch performer, his immense talent was undeniable. Shearer’s greatest success came after SNL. He co-created and co-starred in the legendary mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap and became an essential part of Christopher Guest‘s ensemble. Most famously, he is the voice of numerous iconic characters on The Simpsons.
