A key player in the talent-packed 1984-85 season, Christopher Guest brought his unique brand of understated, character-driven comedy to SNL. He was known for his pre-filmed shorts, like a brilliant synchronized swimming piece with Martin Short and Harry Shearer, which hinted at the filmmaking style that would define his career. After SNL, Guest became a master of the mockumentary genre, directing and co-writing a string of classics including Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind. He remains one of the most influential and singular comedic voices to ever emerge from the show.
