The first time Christopher Walken hosted SNL he starred in one of the most well-received sketches in the history of the show. The sketch appeared after Weekend Update and starred Walken solo addressing the camera in a subjective camera setup. The sketch satirized Renzo Cesana, who appeared in a show called The Continental on television in the 1950s. Walken is a ladies’ man constantly attempting some scheme to get a woman to have a drink in his apartment. The sketch reappeared later when Walken returned to host. He liked it so much that he said he would enjoy doing a movie based on the premise.
