SNL Season 4, Episode 9: Elliott Gould

A

The 9th Episode of Season 4 of Saturday Night Live aired on December 16, 1978. The host was Elliott Gould, and the musical guest was Peter Tosh, Mick Jagger.
Elliott Gould made his fourth hosting appearance, and his familiar, easy-going charm made for another comfortable and funny show. He feels so integrated with the cast that the episodes have a relaxed, “anything can happen” vibe. The show featured a very funny sketch about a support group for people who tell incredibly boring stories. Bill Murray also had a great showcase as a man trying to return a ridiculously large number of toasters. The highlight was musical guest Peter Tosh, who, joined by Mick Jagger, delivered a powerful and politically charged performance of “(You Gotta Walk And) Don’t Look Back.” The music was the real star here, elevating a solid comedic episode into something truly memorable.
