With Ray Charles as both host and musical guest, this episode was a pure celebration of a legend. Ray was not only a musical genius but also a surprisingly game and charming comedic host. He seemed to be having the time of his life, and his joy was infectious. The show built sketches around him, including a fantastic bit where he plays a defendant in “People’s Court” and a funny commercial for a piano-tuning school. The musical performances were, of course, absolutely stunning. Watching him lead the cast and band through his classic songs was a true privilege. This was a warm, joyful, and soulful episode that transcended comedy and became a beautiful tribute to an American icon.
