Shelley Duvall brought her unique, eccentric charm to Studio 8H. She was a game and funny host, fully embracing the show’s silliness. A sketch where she and Gilda Radner play two incredibly awkward women on a talk show was a highlight of character comedy. The show also featured a great commercial parody for “Autoscent,” a car air freshener. Bill Murray’s “Nick the Lounge Singer” was back, this time crooning at a wake. The episode had a wonderfully weird and gentle vibe that perfectly suited its host. Joan Armatrading’s powerful and soulful musical performances were absolutely stunning, adding a layer of depth and artistry to a very solid and enjoyable show.
