SNL Season 2, Episode 19: Elliott Gould

A-

The 19th Episode of Season 2 of Saturday Night Live aired on April 16, 1977. The host was Elliott Gould, and the musical guest was McGarrigle Sisters, Roslyn Kind.
Elliott Gould made his third appearance as host, and by now he felt like a comfortable and reliable member of the family. His quirky, laid-back charm was on full display. The show had a relaxed and confident feel, featuring a number of funny sketches, including another appearance by Bill Murray’s smarmy lounge singer, Nick. The Coneheads also returned for a memorable sketch about filing their taxes. Gould’s easy chemistry with the cast always makes for an enjoyable watch. The folk music of Kate & Anna McGarrigle was beautiful and provided a lovely, mellow counterpoint to the comedy. It was another dependably funny and entertaining episode from one of the show’s best recurring hosts.
