The most positive news for the Saturday Night Live franchise this year has been the successful first season of SNL UK. For the first time, the show’s popularity has been exported. SNL UK has announced that its Season 2 will debut September 12.
The six-episode second season of SNL UK will bring back all 11 cast members, including emerging stars Ania Magliano and Paddy Young, the co-hosts of Weekend Update on the program.
Other SNL UK cast members include Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, and Emma Sidi.
SNL UK presented eight episodes in Season 1, with guest hosts Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, Nicola Coughlan, Aimee Lou Wood, Hannah Waddingham, and Ncuti Gatwa.
The program found an audience quickly following a solid, but unspectacular first episode hosted by Fey. Subsequent episodes were hosted by British and international celebrities, all of whom found a rapport with a lean, talented cast. The dynamic musical numbers were also a big hit with viewers of SNL UK, which is also available on Peacock.
Many sketches on SNL UK’s first season (or “series” as is the common term in the UK) went viral on YouTube, helping to grow the viewership and connecting with young fans. The SNL UK YouTube channel has nearly 200,000 subscribers.
No schedule has been released for hosts for the debut program on September 12, or subsequent episodes of SNL UK in its second season. The Season 1 finale was May 16, when Rwandan-born singer Ncuti Gatwa hosted.
SNL UK garnered several award nominations, including Best Comedy by the National Television Awards 2026. Magliano and Young, who have an exciting chemistry behind the Weekend Update desk, have received many accolades and award nominations in England.
Longtime Saturday Night Live producer and co-founder Lorne Michaels is the executive producer of SNL UK< which airs on Sky network in the United Kingdom.
