Actor Ryan Gosling will be back in Studio 8H for his fourth stint as host on March 7. Gosling last hosted Saturday Night Live in Season 49, on April 13, 2024.
Gosling also hosted in Seasons 41 and 43. He is, according to SNL Rankings, one of the best hosts in the history of the series, based on episode grades:
- Season 41, Episode 7: graded B+
- Season 43, Episode 1: graded B-
- Season 49, Episode 17: graded B+
Gosling’s musical guest in the 13th episode of Season 51 will be Gorillaz, making its first appearance on SNL. The musical act is the brainchild of Damon Albarn and the artist Jamie Hewlett, and marks the first time a “virtual” act will be appearing as a guest on Saturday Night Live. Gorillaz has four fictional 4D characters crafted by Hewlett, but the music is developed by Albarn.
Saturday Night Live will return from a month-long hiatus on February 28 when actor Connor Storrie hosts and musical guest Mumford & Sons performs. Mumford & Sons, who performed in SNL’s gala 50th anniversary music concert last year, will be making its fourth appearance on Saturday Night Live. Its first appearance came in Season 38 on September 22, 2012.
One of Gosling’s most famous bits on SNL has been his multiple appearances in the Close Encounter sketches, which featured cast member Kate McKinnon as a bizarre woman abducted by aliens.
