Michael McKean

Seasons 20-21

Already a star from his work in sitcoms and mockumentaries, Michael McKean joined the SNL cast for the 1993-94 season, bringing a veteran’s presence to the show. He was intended to help fill the absence of Phil Hartman. McKean was a solid and professional ensemble member, known for his musical talent and sharp comedic timing. While he didn’t create a host of recurring characters, his experience was a valuable asset during a transitional period for the show. After SNL, McKean’s incredible career continued with his brilliant collaborations with Christopher Guest in films like Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. He later earned an Emmy nomination for his dramatic turn as Chuck McGill in Better Call Saul.
