A talented impressionist, Jay Mohr had a tumultuous two-season run on SNL in the mid-’90s. He was known for his uncanny mimicry of frequent host Christopher Walken. However, his time on the show was fraught with anxiety, as he later detailed in his book Gasping for Airtime. Despite the difficult experience, Mohr landed a star-making role shortly after leaving, playing the slimy sports agent Bob Sugar in the blockbuster film Jerry Maguire. That role launched a successful career as an actor, radio host, and stand-up comedian, proving that his talent could flourish outside the high-pressure environment of Studio 8H.
