A quintessential New York comic, Colin Quinn was a writer and performer on SNL from 1996 to 2000. He was best known for taking over the ‘Weekend Update’ desk after Norm Macdonald was axed. Quinn’s style was more of a gruff, street-smart ranter, delivering the news with a world-weary and cynical attitude, as well as a mumbly, marble-mouthed delivery. After SNL, Quinn became a respected nightclub act. Though he wasn’t for everyone, Quinn presented a uniquely curmudgeonly comedic voice.
