Fans of Saturday Night Live will be able to double dip later this spring. The British version of SNL will air on Peacock and be available to subscribers in the United States thanks to a deal by NBCUniversal Entertainment.
Saturday Night Live UK will debut on March 21. The show is executive produced by Lorne Michaels, and will emulate the U.S. program, with comedy sketches, a host, and musical guest.
The first host of SNL UK, on March 21, will be former SNL cast member and head writer Tina Fey.
Peacock subscribers in the U.S. will be able to see SNL UK on the day following its live airing from London. Any Peacock subscription will allow you to see the program.
The cast os SNL UK will be Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.
“Saturday Night Live is one of the most influential comedy brands in the world and bringing the UK edition to Peacock is a natural extension of that legacy,” Liz Jenkins, chief business officer at NBCUniversal Entertainment said in an announcement. “As the streaming home of SNL, Peacock is proud to introduce bold new British voices to a global stage.”
Most episodes of SNL dating back to its 1975 debut are available on Peacock, though most musical performances are blacked out. Some sketches and cold opens are also not included in historical SNL episodes on SNL.
