Two performers with ties to Saturday Night Live have been added to the growing cast of Stewie, a planned spinoff from Family Guy for FOX.
Vanessa Bayer and Kenan Thompson will provide voices for the show, which FOX is planning for the fall of 2027. Bayer spent seven seasons as a cast member on SNL from 2010 to 2017, and Thompson is the longest-running cast member. Season 51 marked Thompson’s 23rd in the cast.
Stewie is arguably the most iconic character on the long-running FOX series created by Seth MacFarlane. The series will follow Stewie as he enters a new school and makes friends and enemies among the kids who are enrolled there.
According to Animation Magazine, Thompson will voice a character named Royal, “one of Stewie’s new friends who’s got a ‘Hell no’”’ attitude about the hazards of Stewie’s adventures.” Bayer will voice Stewie’s teacher Morgan, who is “who should probably spend more time watching the kids, and less time partying.”
The program is co-created by Kirker Butler, who worked on Family Guy, as well as The Cleveland Show and Ted with MacFarlane, who launched his animation empire in the late 1990s with FOX via Family Guy. He’s since produced and written multiple animated series and films that have grossed hundreds of millions and created some of the most popular characters in animation history.
Bayer has been busy supplying voices recently for multiple Marvel projects, including Iron Man and His Awesome Friends and a Spidey and His Amazing Friends.
