Alec Baldwin is making a major return to big blockbuster action films. The Academy Award nominated and Emmy Award-winning actor will co-star in Panic Button, an action film directed Juan Boffill to be released by Panoramic Pictures in 2027.
Filming is taking place this summer on the action/chase thriller that has been compared to The Fugitive. Baldwin will co-star with Jeremy Piven, David A. R. White, and Leven Rambin, veterans of the action genre.
This marks the first major film role for Baldwin since the controversial incident in 2021 on the set of Rust, a western produced by and starring Baldwin. A tragic mistake on the set of that film resulted in the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. As a result of that event, Baldwin was embroiled in a trial that dragged on for nearly three years. Eventually, charges against Baldwin citing him as being responsible for the death were dropped. It was found that authorities and the prosecutors office in New Mexico had deliberately withheld evidence from Baldwin and his attorneys.
Baldwin has hosted Saturday Night Live a record 17 times, the most recent in Season 42. He also starred in Tina Fey‘s television series 30 Rock from 2006 to 2013, twice winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
