Chris Rock

Seasons 16-18

Though he was on SNL for only three seasons in the early ’90s, it’s clear the show didn’t fully know how to utilize the comedic genius of Chris Rock. He was often relegated to smaller roles but managed to create one memorable recurring character, the talk show host Nat X. Frustrated with his limited screen time, he left to join In Living Color before launching into one of the most successful stand-up careers of all time. His HBO specials were revolutionary, cementing him as a vital, provocative, and hilarious voice on race, politics, and relationships. Rock became a huge movie star and a comedy icon, proving that his talent was far too big to be contained by the show.
