Former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney is quickly moving up the list of hosting legends for the show. The comedian, writer, producer, and actor will return on November 14 for his seventh hosting appearance on SNL.
Mulaney, who wrote for SNL from 2008 to 2013, will become just the eighth person to host Saturday Night Live as many as seven times. He holds the record for most hosting appearances by a former writer who was never a cast member.
Since he left SNL as a writer, Mulaney has issued several standup comedy specials, and he produces and stars on a program for Netflix titled Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney. His new movie, Madden, will debut on Amazon Prime in November. Mulaney is currently touring his comedy act, “Mister Whatever.”
SNL will welcome actress Inde Navarrette to host its Halloween episode on Oct. 31. The following week, social media entertainer Druski will host on Nov. 7. Then Mulaney will come back for his first appearance as host since Season 50, when he hosted on Nov. 2, 2024. This time, Mulaney will welcome musical guest Phoebe Bridgers, making her third appearance at Studio 8H.
Mulaney quickly joined the SNL Five-Timers Club, hosting once every season from Season 43 to Season 47. His first hosting appearance, with musical guest Jack White, was graded an A- by SNL Rankings.
