A famous watering hole in Washington D.C. may have gotten some free publicity this weekend. Saturday Night Live’s cold open for the penultimate episode of Season 51 was set in Martin’s Tavern in Washington, D.C., where we saw not one, not two, but three of the most insufferable louses from the Trump gang.
Host Matt Damon appeared as U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the cold open for Episode 19 of this season. He was joined by Colin Jost as U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Aziz Ansari as FBI Director Kash Patel.
In the cold open, the three man-children swill alcohol at a D.C. bar and discuss the possibility of Trump serving a third term. Patel comes in tow with a bottle of his branded whiskey, which is something the FBI head man has actually created.
Ansari, Damon, and Jost shared the iconic “Live from New York…” line. It marked the 19th time that Jost has uttered the show-opening phrase, and the second for Damon and Ansari.
The 51st season of SNL will wrap up on May 16 with host Will Ferrell and musical guest Paul McCartney.
